How Donations Are Collected on ErgZone
Donations on ErgZone are made by supporters and are attributed to an athlete for tracking and visibility purposes. All donations are collected within the ErgZone fundraising experience and processed seamlessly through Stripe.
This article explains how the donation process works from a supporter’s perspective.
Accessing the Fundraiser
Supporters access a fundraiser using a single fundraiser link shared by the organizer or athletes.
Supporters do not need an ErgZone account to donate.
Donor Information
To complete a donation, supporters must provide a valid email address.
The email address is used for:
- Payment confirmation
- Donation receipts and records handled by Stripe
Selecting an Athlete to Support
During the donation process, supporters are prompted to select an athlete from the list of participants in the fundraiser.
- Each donation is made in support of the selected athlete
- Athlete selection is used for tracking and display purposes
- Donations are not made by athletes themselves
Choosing a Donation Amount
Supporters choose the amount they wish to donate.
The available donation options and limits are defined by the fundraiser configuration.
Processing Fees Option
During checkout, supporters can choose whether to cover the payment processing fees.
- If the supporter chooses to cover the fees, the system automatically adds the processing fee to the selected donation amount
- If the supporter does not choose to cover the fees, the donation amount remains unchanged
This option helps maximize the amount raised for the fundraiser.
Completing Payment
Once the athlete, donation amount, and fee preference are selected, supporters complete payment through Stripe.
- Payments are processed securely by Stripe
- ErgZone does not store payment information
- Donations are attributed to the selected athlete automatically
Donation Confirmation
After payment is completed:
- The donation is recorded immediately
- Fundraiser totals and athlete totals update in real time
- The supporter receives confirmation through Stripe
Visibility of Donations
Donations made through the fundraiser are reflected in real time:
- On the fundraiser page
- In athlete totals
- In the overall fundraiser progress
This information is visible to organizers, athletes, and supporters.
