Fundraisers on ErgZone – How It Works
Setting up and running a fundraiser on ErgZone is a guided process that connects athlete participation, meters, and donations into a single experience.
Step 1: Connect the Non-Profit Stripe Account
To use ErgZone’s fundraising features, the organization must have a Stripe account approved by Stripe and eligible to receive donations.
The first step is to contact the ErgZone team so we can:
- Link the organization’s non-profit Stripe account as a Stripe Connected Account
- Verify the account is properly configured for fundraising and payouts
This step is required before any fundraiser can be created.
Step 2: Fundraiser Setup
Once the Stripe Connected Account is confirmed, the ErgZone team will create the fundraiser on the ErgZone platform.
During this step, ErgZone will configure:
- Fundraiser title and description
- Currency
- Start and end dates
- Fundraising goals (money and/or meters)
- Associated ErgZone events (competitions and/or groups)
The associated events determine:
- Where athletes register
- Which workouts and meters are counted toward the fundraiser totals
Step 3: Athlete Registration and Participation
Athletes participate in the fundraiser by registering for one of the associated ErgZone events (competition or group).
Once registered:
- Workouts are tracked through ErgZone as usual
- All meters completed in the associated events are automatically counted toward the fundraiser
- The athlete appears as a selectable option for supporters during the donation process
Athletes do not manage donations and do not receive individual donation links.
Step 4: Donations from Supporters
Supporters access the fundraiser through a single fundraiser link.
During the donation process, supporters:
- Select the athlete they wish to support
- Choose a donation amount
- Complete payment through Stripe
Donations are made by supporters and attributed to the selected athlete for tracking and visibility purposes.
Step 5: Tracking During the Fundraiser
Throughout the fundraiser, ErgZone tracks and displays in real time:
- Donations made in support of each athlete
- Total donations raised
- Total meters completed per athlete across all associated events
This information is visible to organizers, athletes, and supporters.
Step 6: Fundraiser Completion
At the end of the fundraiser:
- Donations are finalized through Stripe
- Meter totals are locked based on the fundraiser end date
- Final totals remain visible for reference and reporting
