Competition Team Relay
Overview
ErgZone supports Team Relay competitions, where athletes work together to complete a shared workout by taking turns during the same session.
In this format, only the team captain connects to the ergometers or reports the score, while the whole team alternates as needed to complete the task.
The workout is assigned to the team, but it runs and records under the captain’s account.
Team members switch according to their own strategy or the organizer's rules.
When the workout is finished, ErgZone automatically records or submits the result, and the Leaderboard displays the team name and participants.
Team Formation
In a relay competition, the team captain is responsible for creating the team within ErgZone. After registering for the competition, the captain sets up the team name and sends invitations to teammates directly through the app. Each invite includes a link that opens the ErgZone app and prompts the invited athlete to join the team with a single tap.
Once all invitations are accepted, the team roster is complete and visible to both the captain and the competition organizer. From that point, the team can begin preparing for their relay workouts.

Competing
During the competition, the team captain uses their ErgZone account and device to connect to the ergometers.
The captain starts the workout, and the team takes turns performing segments of the session, following either their own chosen strategy or the switching rules defined by the organizer.
Throughout the workout, only the captain’s device remains connected and responsible for recording the performance.
Once the workout is complete, the result is automatically submitted or reported by the captain.
The Leaderboard will then display the team’s name and list of participants, showing the overall performance achieved during the relay.
Notes for Organizers
Team Relay works for both in-person and virtual competitions.
In virtual events, teams can be located in different places, but all members of a team must be together at the same location to complete their relay.
In both cases, only the team captain connects to the ergometers or reports the team’s score.
Organizers should clearly communicate how switching will happen, what equipment is allowed, and how results are to be submitted or verified.
