24/02/29 - Meeting Erik Wickstrom
A message from our co-founder, Thais Camilo.
This guy is why I am in Mora, Sweden 🇸🇪 today.
Even though Gabriel (my partner) and I always plan trips and dream of visiting many countries, a small town in Sweden was never on our radar.
The guy in the photo with me is Erik Wickström, a fantastic skier and coach. He has been using ErgZone since the beginning, and through his podcast @lagomkondition and his coaching group @wickstromcoaching, he has brought many Swedes (Svenska) to our platform.
And it was him that, with his partner Niklas Bergh, the Vasaloppet organization and Concept2 Sverige organized the first seeding race for Vasaloppet on the skiErg using ErgZone as the official leaderboard last summer.
It was through emails we exchanged that I promised him, three years ago, that one day I would come to his country and show that we are interested in skiing too. 🥰
So, here I am, almost 8,000km from home, representing our company and putting myself in our XC skiers’ shoes to connect with them and understand what makes them love the sport so much.
Today, after briefly meeting Erik, I took my newly rented skis to the track behind the store and skied to my hotel, about 2km away.
I have no words to describe how happy meeting with people through ErgZone makes me feel.

Thais will be in Mora all weekend and would love to meet other ErgZone users. While she is not racing 90km, she is debuting on a Nordic Ski Race this Saturday on the 9km race called Vasaloppet10. You can follow her live during the race through the Vasaloppet app.
